Very long queues and mot helped by road works blocking off the main entrance.
Such an easy way to find and book a ferry, I always use AFerry
AFerry have recently decided to move their customer contact to a web only messaging service. That's it for me then. No more AFerry bookings. If you're going to be a true web-based service, then your contact options should be more, not fewer. They say that they respond to 90% of calls within four hours. So for a simple question (not covered by their basic FAQs), and a follow-up question (as I had to), that's potentially an eight-hour customer service experience. Even an online chat service would be a vast improvement. Unfortunately as it stands, AFerry have clearly decided they want to process bookings, not speak to customers. Such an outdated and short-sighted strategy, even compared to their closest competition (Eurotunnel and Direct Ferries have contact numbers).
A very functional Port, absolutely no frills whatsoever with only a 45mins check in requirement. However, access is easy and the ferry is well signposted. Don't expect shops or lounges or anything like that. Good tip is to book a cabin well in advance at busy times for the four hour crossing as the lounge areas get very crowded on this route. I suggest not arriving too early to check in or you will just sit and bake in your car. Fortunately there is a loo at the Port!
